Need a tunnel to cope with this much water

Te Hiko Street Stormwater Upgrade, Titahi Bay
A huge amount of water and what to do with it; local residents had been flooded out every rain fall for years and the PCC had to fix this. They called Connell Wagner to come up for a solution to this problem.  The solution was to install a pipeline the size of a tunnel through private section down Te Hiko Street over Titahi Bay Road and out to the sea front under water.  What to do!!  Well, we did it while averting any problems and all without out incident. When we were done you would hardly know we went there!!

State Highway1, Raumati Stormwater Upgrade
Like usual we had the project running on time and to budget when we discovered an asbestos watermain!!  This watermain was on alignment of our new 450mm HDPE twin pipe line stormwater correction project.  What a huge problem. Transit New Zealand owned the roadway, and was the client for the stormwater project.  The watermain was owned by Kapiti Coast District Council, and neither party had budget for this or wanted to pay.  If you have been involved in the industry you can understand how big of problem this was. Work could not proceed unless the watermain was moved and both of the clients did not want to sit at the same table.  Well through several meetings, called in favours through old clients and friends we worked out a solution and brought the project in to completion meeting all the parties’ requirements.

Paekakariki is flooding and State Highway 1 is shut: Not a problem

Transit NZ Paekakariki Culvert Upgrade
Working with Duffill Watts (CPG) Transit New Zealand came up with a design and a solution to solve future flooding problems and closure of the highway, but they needed to work on the live stream and get it done quickly so the highway would not have to be closed again.  What to do??? Step in US!!!!  We had to build this new system while maintaining fish passage and not shut the highway and do it in record time.  How did we do it?  We ran a temporary fish passage with a HDE pipeline, worked extended hours and shifted fences, water mains and poured massive concrete chambers!!!  Project delivery- No problem!!!!
